Midtown Direct Rep presents:
Theatre in the Loft Series

Join Midtown Direct Rep in developing new and innovative American theatre.

Following on the heels of MDR's successful development of Rated P (for parenthood), MDR's new program, Theatre in the Loft, aims to do the same for other previously unseen material. MDR will now be presenting monthly readings or workshops of new plays and musicals one Sunday night a month at 7 PM in the SOPAC loft. With a cash bar and post show discussions with our casts and creative teams, MDR will foster a fun and collaborative environment to nurture the development of top notch theatre right here at home.

NEXT: THE COTTAGE by Sandy Rustin, directed by Adam Dannheisser
Sunday, April 21, 7:00PM
$15 Cover, Cash Bar, No Drink Minimum

The creator of Rated P (for parenthood) proudly presents a new comedy in two acts: The Cottage, a rollicking farce inspired by the works of Noel Coward. Set in the English Countryside in 1923, this tale of love, sex and betrayal begins when Sylvia Van Kipness decides to expose her love affair with her husband's brother. The true meanings of fate, identity, and marriage are all called into question as a surprising and hilarious web of secrets unravel in this ridiculous, potentially murderous, romantic comedy.

Upcoming Sundays at 7 PM Theatre in the Loft dates:

Sunday, May 19th: IMAGINARY LOVE by Kait Kerrigan, directed by Daniel Goldstein

Kara and Lyle begin to question what love is when their friendship-turned-relationship of nearly 25 years ends. Now in new relationships, they are unable to let their vivid memories of childlike romance go. For the first time in their lives, they are forced, in both dreams and reality, to confront the question of what love is, and more, what purpose it serves.
